From Maryland LeCompte Family Genealogy Project
Welcome to the Maryland LeCompte Family Genealogy Project
If you've come to this site, you're probably wondering one of two things: a) where is all the genealogical information that USED TO BE here? or b) why does the site look so different? (maybe you're thinking both of these) Let be honest with you and myself. I do not have a GREAT AMOUNT OF TIME to devote to this site. I have lots of other projects and personal things vying for my time, and that time seems ever more finite with each passing day. I DO want to continue the site, but am looking for the most efficient way to do that.
While lamenting this fact, it occurred to me that the best way to do this was by making the site collaborative. If you're familiar with Wikipedia.org you'll have a good idea what I mean. In fact, the software that is now running this site is the same software (though a different version) that is used on that popular web site.
My goal is this. I will provide all the genealogy information I have on the LeCOMPTE families of Maryland; this includes raw data, photographs, Bible scans, record transcripts, journal excerpts, etc. In exchange, my hope is that other researchers will also contribute what they have. In the end, everyone benefits and everyone goes away happy.
This Project
The Maryland LeCompte Family Genealogy Project is an attempt to compile all available information on Anthony LeCOMPTE's deceased descendants. I do not want any information on living persons posted to this site. Anthony is the first recorded LeCOMPTE immigrant to settle in Maryland and its Eastern Shore. If you have ANY information on LeCOMPTE descendants that are not listed here, or updated information about those that are, please contact the webmaster or make an account and change the information on your own. Please try to use the same organization and formatting conventions that appear elsewhere in the site. If you can't figure it out, don't worry about it, contributions are more important than appearance.
The site is divided into several sections:
- People
- Family Group Sheets (e.g., data, photographs)
- Surnames
- Resources
- Bibliography
- Cemetery Records
- Census Records
- Church Records
- Family Bibles
- Land Records (e.g., property records)
- Marriage Records (e.g., licenses)
- Military Records
- Newspaper Excerpts
- Tax Records
- Vital Statistics (e.g., certificates of birth and death)
Contributors
The Maryland LeCompte Family Genealogy Project would not be possible without the contributions of many researchers. Some of the researchers that have contributed are:
- Albert Channell, III [deceased] (information on the family of Howard Lloyd LeCOMPTE)
- Carole Smith (information on the family of Levin CATOR)
- Andrew LeCompte (information on the family of Thomas LeCOMPTE)
- Mark L. Raulin (information on the RAWLEIGH family)
- John Reeder (information on the family of John REEDER)
